As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and pure luck. The aim is to shift your checkers safely around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their pieces toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers shifting in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at specific times. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to complete your game.
The Priming Game Strategy
If the goal of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to shift his chips, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any movement of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get hit, or result a battered position if he ever attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point eleven in your board. After you’ve successfully built the prime to prevent the movement of your opponent, the opponent does not even get to roll the dice, and you move your chips and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.
The Back Game Plan
The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions with hope to improve your chances of winning, however the Back Game strategy utilizes different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game plan is frequently employed when you’re far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are relocated is partly the result of the dice toss.
