As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The goal is to move your chips carefully around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opposing player moves their checkers toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular tactics at particular instances. Here are the two final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift their chips, the Priming Game strategy is to completely barricade any movement of the opposing player by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get bumped, or result a bad position if he at all tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your board. Once you have successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of the opponent, the competitor doesn’t even get to toss the dice, and you move your chips and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The goals of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions hoping to boost your odds of winning, however the Back Game strategy uses different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is frequently used when you are far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this plan, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are moved is partly the outcome of the dice toss.
