The goal of a Backgammon game is to move your checkers around the game board and get them from the game board faster than your opponent who works harder to do the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a game in Backgammon requires both tactics and luck. How far you will be able to shift your chips is up to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and just how you shift your checkers are determined by your overall playing plans. Enthusiasts use a few tactics in the differing parts of a game dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Technique

The goal of the Running Game strategy is to bring all your chips into your inner board and pull them off as quick as you could. This tactic focuses on the pace of moving your pieces with absolutely no time spent to hit or block your opponent’s pieces. The ideal time to employ this strategy is when you think you can shift your own chips a lot faster than your opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer pieces on the game board; 2) all your chips have past your competitor’s chips; or 3) the opposing player doesn’t use the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Plan

The primary aim of the blocking strategy, by the title, is to stop the opponent’s pieces, temporarily, not worrying about moving your chips quickly. Once you’ve created the blockage for the opponent’s movement with a couple of pieces, you can move your other checkers swiftly from the game board. You should also have an apparent strategy when to extract and shift the checkers that you used for blocking. The game gets interesting when your opposition utilizes the same blocking tactic.
