As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of skill and good luck. The aim is to move your checkers carefully around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opposing player moves their chips toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the goal of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to move her pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any activity of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get bumped, or end up in a bad position if he at all tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anywhere between point two and point 11 in your board. After you have successfully assembled the prime to prevent the activity of your competitor, your opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, that means you shift your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The aims of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions hoping to improve your chances of winning, but the Back Game tactic relies on different techniques to do that. The Back Game tactic is generally used when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your chips and how the chips are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
