As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of ability and luck. The aim is to shift your chips carefully around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opponent moves their checkers toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at particular times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move her pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely barricade any activity of the opponent by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if she at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you have successfully built the prime to stop the movement of the opponent, your competitor doesn’t even get to toss the dice, and you shift your checkers and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions with hope to better your odds of winning, however the Back Game strategy relies on alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game tactic is frequently used when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This tactic is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the chips are moved is partially the result of the dice roll.
