The Essential Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part 2
As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and good luck. The goal is to shift your pieces carefully around the board to your inner board while at the same time your opponent moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific strategies at specific times. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to complete your game.
The Priming Game Tactic
If the goal of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to shift his chips, the Priming Game strategy is to completely barricade any activity of the opposing player by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if he at all attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. As soon as you have successfully built the prime to prevent the activity of the competitor, your competitor does not even get to toss the dice, and you move your chips and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Tactic
The goals of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions with hope to better your odds of winning, however the Back Game technique utilizes seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is often employed when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this tactic, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are relocated is partly the result of the dice roll.
