As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The aim is to move your checkers carefully around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player checkers heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at specific instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift his pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or result a battered position if he at all tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your board. After you’ve successfully built the prime to stop the movement of the competitor, the competitor doesn’t even get to roll the dice, that means you move your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The goals of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions in hope to boost your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game strategy utilizes alternate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is often utilized when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more difficult than others to use in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partly the result of the dice toss.
