As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The goal is to shift your pieces carefully around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player moves their pieces toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular strategies at particular times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon strategies to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the goal of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to move their checkers, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get bumped, or end up in a bad position if he at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. Once you’ve successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of the competitor, the opponent does not even get to toss the dice, that means you move your chips and roll the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game strategy are very similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions in hope to boost your chances of winning, however the Back Game strategy relies on different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is generally utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this tactic, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your chips and how the chips are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice toss.
