The Essential Basics of Backgammon Strategies – Part Two
As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and good luck. The aim is to shift your chips carefully around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposition shifts their pieces toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at particular instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon strategies to round out your game.
The Priming Game Strategy
If the aim of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to shift his chips, the Priming Game strategy is to completely barricade any activity of the opponent by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if she ever tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. After you have successfully assembled the prime to stop the movement of your opponent, the opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your pieces and roll the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.
The Back Game Strategy
The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions with hope to better your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game plan utilizes different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is generally used when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this technique, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice toss.
