As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and pure luck. The goal is to shift your checkers safely around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips heading in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at specific instances. Here are the two final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift her pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any activity of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or result a battered position if she at all attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your half of the board. Once you’ve successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of your competitor, the opponent does not even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your pieces and roll the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions in hope to improve your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game tactic uses different techniques to do that. The Back Game plan is commonly employed when you’re far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to use in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are relocated is partially the result of the dice roll.
