As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and good luck. The goal is to shift your chips safely around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposing player moves their checkers toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular techniques at specific instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon strategies to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to move their pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to completely block any movement of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he ever tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. Once you have successfully assembled the prime to stop the movement of your competitor, your competitor does not even get to toss the dice, and you shift your chips and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions hoping to improve your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game plan relies on different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is generally used when you’re far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this strategy, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are relocated is partly the result of the dice roll.
