Backgammon is the oldest game in history. It has been called as the "little war," backgammon started in ancient Iraq almost 5000 years ago. However, Egyptians called backgammon "Senat," which was a similar type of the current game enjoyed right now. Centuries ago, only citizens in power, the ruling figures of royalty like Egyptian pharaohs, were allowed to play. The game began to grow around the globe over time. Distinctive Backgammon variants have been developed in numerous states and cultures, but the fundamental protocols of those versions appear that of the archaic form . For example, Greece took hold of the game and coined the name "bac gamen." From there, the English started playing backgammon in the 1600’s and have remained with it ever since. Backgammon and competing archaic games were never approved by a great many churches. The clergy believe that the game was the work of the Devil. This caused clergy to ban and burn the game. The blacklisting and burning did not prevent individuals playing games and being entertained.
