The Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part One
The aim of a Backgammon match is to move your checkers around the Backgammon board and get those pieces from the game board faster than your opposing player who works harder to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Winning a game of Backgammon requires both tactics and luck. Just how far you will be able to shift your chips is up to the numbers from rolling the dice, and the way you move your checkers are decided on by your overall playing strategies. Enthusiasts use differing plans in the different stages of a game based on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Strategy
The goal of the Running Game strategy is to lure all your pieces into your inner board and pull them off as fast as you can. This tactic focuses on the pace of advancing your chips with absolutely no time spent to hit or barricade your competitor’s checkers. The ideal time to use this plan is when you believe you might be able to shift your own pieces a lot faster than the opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer pieces on the board; 2) all your pieces have moved beyond your opponent’s checkers; or 3) the opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking strategy.
The Blocking Game Tactic
The main aim of the blocking technique, by its title, is to block the opponent’s pieces, temporarily, while not fretting about shifting your chips quickly. After you’ve established the barrier for your opponent’s movement with a few pieces, you can move your other checkers swiftly off the game board. You should also have a clear plan when to extract and shift the chips that you used for blocking. The game gets interesting when the opponent utilizes the same blocking tactic.
