The Basics of Backgammon Strategies – Part 1
The aim of a Backgammon match is to shift your pieces around the Backgammon board and pull them from the board quicker than your challenger who works harder to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Winning a game of Backgammon requires both tactics and good luck. Just how far you can shift your chips is up to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and the way you shift your checkers are determined by your overall gambling strategies. Players use different strategies in the differing stages of a game based on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Tactic
The aim of the Running Game tactic is to bring all your chips into your home board and bear them off as fast as you can. This strategy concentrates on the speed of moving your chips with little or no efforts to hit or block your competitor’s chips. The ideal time to use this strategy is when you believe you can shift your own chips quicker than the opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the game board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your competitor’s chips; or 3) your opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking strategy.
The Blocking Game Strategy
The main goal of the blocking technique, by the title, is to block the competitor’s checkers, temporarily, not worrying about shifting your chips quickly. After you’ve established the blockade for your opponent’s movement with a few chips, you can shift your other checkers rapidly from the game board. The player should also have a clear plan when to back off and move the checkers that you used for the blockade. The game becomes interesting when the opponent utilizes the same blocking strategy.
